Text Set, Art of Leonardo Da Vinci and the Renaissance

One of the challenges teachers face is collecting and providing accessible and motivating texts that support the content-area curriculum. In order to learn and understand the concepts of specific topics, students need to have a wide range of reading materials that are appropriate in reading level and that will engage and motivate all students.

The topic that I want to present to my classes will be Leonardo Da Vinci and his part in the Early Renaissance. I believe that there is enough material for an extended art appreciation, research and creation unit. I have strived to include reading material that each of my grade levels could embrace

Question: Which was Leonardo Da Vinci an inventor an artist or both?

Comments

  1. This seems like an important text set. We should all know who Leonardo Da Vinci is. I like how you have many different perceptions of Leonardo Da Vinci and his work. It seems really complicated for students who are so young, but students complain about being bored so often, maybe what they need is more difficult material sometimes. I think it is great how you cross into other subjects, too. Some students may not be so interested in art, but when they learn that Da Vinci worked in other fields, too, it might motivate them. Great post!
